Aisha: Movie Review

Warning :-
1) Fans of Sonam Kapoor or Anil Kapoor are strictly prohibited from reading this post.
2) Watching Aisha is injurious to your health.

The Circumstances :-

I am a big-time movie enthusiast but I generally prefer watching movies on my laptop. However, if the movie is too good, I opt to go in a theatre. By implementing what you call as “Reverse Psychology”, I can say that I have liked all the movies which I had watched in theatres till now. But I never knew that today this fate was written to be changed. So, I went to watch Aisha today. Some people might accuse me of extreme-vellapanti since I have started going to watch such movies (earlier I went to watch Twilight) after getting placed. Believe me guys I was forcefully taken to watch it.

The day started like any other normal day rather it was even more exciting. My cousin brother had come and I was supposed to treat him and my sister. Please note that I had already treated my sister by taking her to watch “Twilight Saga: Eclipse” (but it seems she is inspired from Inception and believes in multiple-levels of treats. This was her second level of treat….2 more to go). We decided to go for a movie. Thanks to the roads jammed by the Kanwarias (Google them to know who they are), there were only 2 theatres left which were nearby our house and where we could have reached safely without being beaten by the Kanwarias. “Once upon a time in Mumbai”, “Predators” and “Aisha” were the three movies they were screening (no Inception or Salt. Are the theatre owners insane ???). My cousin didn’t wanted to go for Predators (he didn’t like movies with screaming and ugly looking creatures) and my sister said a blunt no for Once Upon…..Mumbai (no particular reasons). I was ready to go to any damn movie except Aisha. Sadly, my cousin took her side and he also got ready to watch Aisha. I desperately wanted to prove that the movie is not worth watching and so I searched for its ratings in TOI but OMG, Nikhat Kazmi had given it 4-out-of-5 stars (after watching the movie later I realized that this man needs to refer a psychiatrist). Anyways, my voice was subdued and we headed towards the multiplex to have once-in-a-lifetime-experience…………

Reaching the theatre when I entered the queue and asked for tickets for Aisha, a group of young men started giving me a look full of contempt as if I was a gay man (NO offense to anyone). They had come to watch Once Upon….Mumbai (envy……….lucky men, they were). Enough about the circumstances, time to discuss the movie.

Aisha: The Movie :-

If anyone reading the blog is curious enough to know about the theme of the movie, I could easily describe it in two simple words, “Ms. Sonam Kapoor” (or should I say Ms. Aisha Kapoor). Produced by her daddy Mr. Anil Kapoor, it seemed to me more like a promotional video for Sonam Kapoor than an A-Grade bollywood movie. The movie was an attempt by daddy-jee to show all the acting skills of her baby-girl. 70% of the time (approximately of course, I wasn’t sitting there with a stop-watch in hand) the camera was focused on Sonam, how she laughs, how she dances, how she cries, how she fights (verbally of course, she is no Rakhi Sawant), and all other such crap activities she does, they have shown everything. They have also tried to flaunt the glamorous side of Sonam. The money spent on her dresses was surely more than the rest of the budget of the movie. You could find her wearing a new dress every few minutes and her skirt was getting shorter every 15 minutes (Damn! I like longer movies). Let’s discuss the storyline now.

The movie is a complex love-Octagon. There are 7 characters other than Ms. Sonam, who plays a match-maker or cupid in the movie. And yeah, Sonam has pretty well portrayed the role of the dumbest girl practically feasible (even Bella from Twilight would have scored a 150 in IQ compared to Aisha). Anyways, each one of the 8 characters is in love with some other person who is in love with some third person and so on. I can’t describe it anymore, its entangled, may be you need a complex 8-variable equation or a complex graph with 8 nodes to denote the exact relationships.  It seemed that Mr. India (Anil Kapoor – just in case a Bollywood newbie is reading this post) wanted to give the viewers some suspense in the movie (It’s a completely different story that he ended up giving headaches instead). Other than this, the movie is full of girly-stuff as well, lot of shopping, make-up, boutiques, trendy clothes and girly-talks; you will find these in plenty in the movie.

If any Sonam or Anil Kapoor fan is reading this post, despite of the warning above, he/she might blame me that I have not mentioned anything good about the movie. I liked a few things as well. Music was good, no it was awesome. Abhay Deol acted well (but sorry Abhay beta it was not your flick, it was produced for Baby Sonam, and you were just playing a side role). Another girl named Pinky acted nicely as well (Notice the name Pinky here; I told you there was a lot of girly stuff in the movie).  Other than these…..hmm….lemme think what else I liked…………. (After 10 minutes) still thinking…………..Got it. Other than this I liked the pop-corns and the trailers which they showed at the start and during the intermission (The trailers were much more interesting than the movie).

“All bad things come to an end”. I realized the authenticity of this statement when the movie screen flashed The End. By the end, I was in a traumatic state (my sister and my cousin were not in a good state either). The other people coming out of the hall were also PRAISING the movie in the following words…..”Kya Bakwaas movie thee”, “Chalo finally khatam huee” and of course the legendary “Jheloo movie”.

Though Censor Board has given the movie a U certificate (A-Adult, U-Universal, PG- Parental Guidance), but this movie very well deserves the category B (B-Beware). I hope you have got some idea about the movie now. If you are vella as well and have the dare to try outrageous things, then go watch Aisha.

Disclaimer :- I am not in the right mental state after watching this movie, so please ignore any grammatical or syntax mistakes you find.

Awesome Experience

It had been a crazy but interesting week. I have never experienced such a fast-paced life. Quoting a friend of mine, who rightly describes the experience as “Go to office..come from office...sleep....get up and repeat”. For me it has been more than that. Be it the travel in airplane to Hyderabad or the stay at the guest house or the experience at Microsoft office, everything has been equally unique and enticing for me. Please note here that I had never travelled in an airplane or stayed at a guest house and obviously never worked in a company before. So, it was all very NEW. The whole experience could be segregated into three sub-experiences and let me describe each of them one by one.

The Airport

Thanks to Mayank and his parents who were helpful enough to fetch me and my BIG bags to the airport in their car. The airport has been amazingly built and the cool morning breeze made the whole view even more delightful. We reached pretty early at the airport (you should never take risks with Delhi traffic jams, not even in early mornings) and had to wait long for the other guys to join us. Then came the turn for security checks where we felt almost like stripped when we were asked to get rid of all the electronic items we had with us. They didn’t even left our laptops, and the laptops were taken out of the comfortable laptop bags and they lied naked in front of the security machine (my poor lappy! L). Anyways, by the time we were done with the complex security checks, I and Saurabh decided that the first thing we should do after reaching Microsoft is to design a product which could simplify the whole airport security-check process (probably the thing we are best in is to design air castles, haha). Btw, if anyone reading this doesn’t know who Saurabh is, let me introduce him. Saurabh is my batch-mate at NSIT and fellow MS intern with a scientist-like brain, who fortunately is also my room-mate. And then came that “Aha” moment when we were taken to the plane by the airport shuttle bus. There were hardly any seats in the bus, so we had to travel standing (strange, and then they promise to give world class facilities in their flights). Looking the plane with such proximity was AWESOME. As soon as we boarded the plane, my perception that “cheap flights do not employ beautiful flight attendants” was SHATTERED. You could guess now that it must have been a great flight. Anyways, mine was a corner seat but after requesting to the co-operative uncle and aunty who were sitting next to me, I managed to get the window seat (skills to convince others are required ubiquitously).  And then flies the plane (Woo! Hoo!), “AWESOME” that is all I could have said. Within a few minutes, it rose to high altitudes and from getting tiny to tinier to tiniest the buildings on the earth surface just disappeared. The milky clouds appeared to me as if we are floating on the sea and I was even able to visualize fake islands far away on the clouds (I have become really good in imagination after honing my skills for years by constructive imaginative air castles). Every good thing comes to end, and so did our flight when we landed in Hyderabad (Hyd, I am back after December). Thanks to Dhruv, another of my super-brilliant fellow MS intern, we got a lift to our guest house from the airport. Time to move to the next section.

Serenity Inn

Then we came to the guest house which MS has sponsored for us for the first 15 days of our internship (please note only the lodging, complimentary breakfast everyday and 2 bottles of Bisleri. For anything else we need to spend hefty sum of money from our pockets. You would get some idea when I will tell you that the laundry here takes 20 bucks for washing and ironing each cloth). Anyways, the place does not deserve any criticism and justifies its name “Serenity Inn: Rest @ Peace” very well. In this part of the story, the “Aha” moment came when we reached our respective rooms (double occupancy, wanna make it clear). And again I could only say, AWESOME. Equipped with TV, fridge, AC, Sofa, connected wash-room, balcony and wi-fi connection with 256 MBPS download speed, the place looks no less than a 5-star hotel. Dhruv and Ashish (another of my super brainy fellow MS intern) were favored though. They were given rooms double our size, on first floor (ours is on the fifth floor), their AC cools much more (our AC is of Godrej and remote of Videocon, so it hardly works), their TV remote works well (our TV remote sucks). Since no such discrimination was made on the part of MS, I guess the guest house staff hypothised that I and Saurabh do not deserve such a room. And their hypothesis has been proved by us unchallenged till date by the fact that we keep our room in such a messy condition that the staff people must have thought, “kaise kaise junglee logon ko chance mil jaata hai”. We could clean our room but it’s just that we like to live that way. It’s not just that the guest house staffs are the only people we have irritated; we have not even left Dhruv and Ashish. Every morning they keep on calling to wake us up, but we wake at the maximum possible delayed time, get ready at the slowest pace and eat breakfast in a sluggish manner and they get late everyday because of us. They have got so irritated that they have finally decided to leave for office without the two of us. Dhruv and Ashish believe me you have made the right decision. Yeah forgot to mention one point, the staff here is really very co-operative, they enjoy helping others, great!

MICROSOFT

Now, comes the part of story which many people might be interested in reading about. If anyone asks me how I like the place, I would just say, “I couldn’t have expected any better”. The ambience once you enter MS campus is completely different. The people here are diligent, humble, fun-loving, great coders and managers. And yeah you can find beautiful women here as well. The campus is big, really big and buildings are the show-case of great engineering. The timings are flexible, no formal dress-code, no hard rules and regulations (of course you need permissions for some things). You can come and go at any time, wear anything (but yes you need to wear at least something), roam around the campus like a free-spirit, they won’t care. The only thing they care about is that you should be good (no BEST!) at your work. You just need to meet your deadlines with quality work and that is all they want. So, sitting at such a great place on my desk, I said the third time the “Aha” word “AWESOME”. Sitting there the only thing I felt was “It is different”. No one forces you much, no one monitors you strongly. But the kind of enthusiasm you discover in people working all around you compels you to give your best. For all those who freak out reading about so much of work, cheer out guys, there is a huge fun factor which can be found here as well. There are large football and cricket fields, tennis courts (it’s always booked though and you won’t get much chance to try your hand at it), foosball and TT tables, caroms, free cafeterias, and blah blah blah. There is a whole lot of entertainment facilities available here. And yeah there is a visitor center as well where you can play around with MS Surface, XBOX and other such cool stuff (I still need to visit this place). In short, it’s a fun place to hang around at.

No doubt I am missing my family and friends here, but in the company of Dhruv, Saurabh, Ashish and all the great people here, I am surely learning new and great things day in and day out.

Print “Hello World!!!”

So….finally my blog is up and running. Obviously I am excited writing my first blog post. This is just an introductory post which gives you an insight about what you are going to find in my blog posts in the near future.

Why I turned to blogging?

Let’s start with answering this very basic question- why I left the basic human nature of leading a comfortable life and took the pains to start a blog. Well, there are two main reasons for this.

1) To hone my writing skills. Want to know why? Then read the next two paragraphs (which are pretty lengthy) else you could skip them.
The power to express themselves precisely is one of the most gifted tools possessed by human-beings which put them apart from other forms of animals or mammals (Yeah, I know that human-brain is what actually sets us apart. But as it does not match the context of this post; let’s just keep it out-of-this-discussion). Speaking and writing are obviously, two of the most important forms of expressing yourselves (hmm…..what about mimes….they neither speak nor write but they are pretty good at expressing themselves….ok we can say that acting is another nice form….but since I am in no mood to discuss acting-skills here let’s just dump it for now as well). Though these skills matter only to some extent in smaller ages but once you enter into the professional world, these back-benchers are no more worth neglecting.
The way you express your ideas whether verbally or in-written-form determines how successful you are going to become. Preparing reports, giving lectures, attending seminars, discussing ideas, anything and everything demands you to be good in these two basic skill-sets. If anyone reading this post thinks that writing and speaking are the ornaments required only for a non-tech job, wake-up buddy!!! Technical field demands them equally as any other non-technical field. Be it the product-development meetings where you need to explain technical details to your technically ignorant clients, or be it writing of research papers where you need to be very crisp while mentioning the research work you have pursued for months or years in a few pages, or be it documenting your computer codes where a well-documented code can save hours of mind-boggling of your fellow programmers; everything expects you to be at least a decent-if-not-superb writer and speaker.
The epitome of the whole discussion is that you need to give at-least some weightage to develop your communication skills as well. So, when I realized that I am still a novice in writing and its high-time to get better, I thought of starting to write a blog. It might not be the best way, but I guess it would surely give some boost up. For verbal skills, haha…..once you get into an engineering college you chirp like a bird day-in and day-out and you hardly need any improvements. Anyways, we can think about it later when someone introduces something like an “interactive audio blog”.
2) Self-Documentation.
The other reason why I wanted to start blogging was to self-document my experiences. And they might just prove beneficial for others as well.
The title Decoded: What you should expect out of my blog-site.
Just in case you had some problem understanding why I kept the name of my blog as “Vijit, Me and the World”, so let me explain it in this section. This name is slightly inspired from the movie “Me, myself and Irene” starring Jim Carrey. Finding it hard to get the analogy between the two titles?? Don’t strain your brain, just leave it.
As the name suggests, this blog will feature posts regarding Vijit (which will feature posts from the perspective of a person the world thinks I am); regarding me (which I am from within, so they are going to be a bit philosophical) and about the world (through which I would discuss my exploration of the world).
How to make out the most of my blog-site
I would highly appreciate if you could follow my blog and criticize, or like or comment on my posts. Since I am pretty open to discussions, it would be great if you could post your comments in case you disagree with my posts.

So, pack your bags and get ready to dive into the world of “Vijit, me and the World”…………………
